Road Safety

What we do

The Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO) are elected from the primary seven class each year. They serve the school educating the younger pupils about issues to do with road safety and keeping safe out and about in West Linton. The JRSOs main job is raising awareness about the dangers of crossing roads. They especially try to connect with the younger students.

The JRSOs work with the teachers to make fun and creative competitions which are usually split in two parts with a competition for the lower school and a competition for the upper school. Then they award a first, second and third with lots of prizes.

The green foot is an award which is given monthly to the class who has the most people walking to school on a random day. The JRSOs come around the classes on any old day every month and they ask the classes who walked to school, who parked and then walked, who shared a lift, who scootered, who cycled and who drove the whole way.
