Primary 5 have been learning about democracy this term. We have learnt a lot about what makes the UK system a democracy, and about some of the political parties in Scotland. We decided to have our own class election – we got into groups and came up with our own political parties. Thinking carefully about our main aims we came up with a political party name, our manifestos, our logo, and the significance of this logo. We then created a poster showing all this information, and some political leaflets and rosettes. The election itself was great fun! After voting by putting our anonymous voting slips in the ballot box, P5 were proud to have elected the EPT party. They got to ‘take over’ the class for 30 minutes, which they loved!!!
