We’ve had a brilliant week at school this week with pupils and staff taking part in the Rookie Rockstars workshops. The whole school came together for three afternoons to learn a set of songs and consider important messages around friendships, celebrating individuality and bullying. The workshops culminated with the recording of our own CD this morning. Rookie Rockstars staff consistently commented on the excellent attitude of our pupils and the positive, lively involvement of pupils and staff alike. We are all really excited for our concert which takes place a week on Wednesday, 5th October. We hope you’ve got your tickets!

I spent two days in Glasgow this week at the Scottish Learning Festival – on the first day I was asked to showcase the work of our school – in particular the success of Parents as Partners, YE club and West Linton Wasps. It was great to have West Linton PS showcasing at a national event.

Also in school this week, Scott Gosz took family and individual portraits of our children – I have seen the results this afternoon and am sure our parent body will be delighted with the decision to try something different! A first opportunity to view the pictures will be this coming Monday morning, 26th Sep from 9-10am during our Open Morning. A letter with full details of prices and how to order will follow next week.

Thanks to the parents who attended the first of this year’s ELC focus groups on Tuesday night – it’s always great to have strong support from our parent body and we are delighted when families take up the opportunity to get involved and work together with the school so we can continuously improve.

Next week it’s our Open Morning on Monday, in the afternoon our P1s and 2s travel to Peebles for The Magic of Road Safety show and on Tuesday our P7s take part in Crucial Crew.

But in the meantime this weekend we hope you might be able to make it along to the Barony Castle family fun day on Sunday – we were delighted to learn that the Barony will be supporting our school later this year around Christmas time – more details to follow….
Whatever you do, have a lovely weekend!
