Thank you to everyone who supported our children to complete their “My Future Dream” home learning. I will thoroughly enjoy looking through these and displaying them in time for our parental consultations next week. It provided a great topic for conversation during Star of the Week tea this morning! How I hope and wish that, for each and every one of our children, they do grow up to realise even some of their dreams – and if not to dream new ones!
Generation Science arrived at the school with gusto this week. Great to have the outreach from the Edinburgh Science Festival delivering high quality workshops and the excitement and looks on faces leaving the workshops was evidence enough of the fun and energy the children had, had. Our remaining six classes will enjoy their workshops over the course of the next fortnight.
Sporting success this week in the form of our P6 and P7 cross country teams. It was super to be able to field both a boys and girls team in both age categories with particular success for Trinity who placed 8th in the P7 girls race and Ross who was both first in the P6 boys race and posted the fastest time across all P6 and P7 runners. He will be the boy to beat next year! All of our pupils represented WLPS proudly – it is super to be able to participate in so many authority wide events. Some of our younger pupils are representing us in tennis this afternoon and we look forward to hearing how they got on next week.
P6 led a very informative assembly about their Engineering theme this morning. They decided to deliver it through the genre of The Game Show and they certainly provided both audiences with great entertainment. A fun way to share their learning, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
I round off my week in school with a visit to Newlands Centre where we will celebrate some P6 pupils completion of the Achieve Your Potential programme which is delivered by Peeblesshire Youth Trust. A great way to end the week – celebrating achievement and looking forward to the future!
Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to seeing you in school next week for parental consultations.
