The Daily Mile

West Linton Primary School … On your marks … Get set …

We’re on the starting line for a new whole school initiative aimed at giving everyone the chance to walk or run a mile a day. The idea began at St Ninian’s Primary School in Stirling and the benefits are wide ranging – from being fitter and healthier, to improving concentration levels and increasing social and emotional skills.

Pupils in Primary 7 have already been outside measuring and marking out our one mile course in the playground. Every class will go outside on a daily basis for their mile or fifteen minute blast of fresh air and exercise. The mile a day will be in addition to PE lessons.

Our Ministers for Publicity have been busy creating posters to advertise the Daily Mile and they helped launch this initiative at Assembly. These Ministers will also keep our web page and twitter feed updated with news of how we are doing with our daily mile. First mile starts Monday 26th October…

We are looking forward to increasing our fitness and wellbeing and incorporating the daily mile into part of our wider learning in school.
