Many thanks to the large number of parents and carers who attended our Meet the ELC Team and Meet the Teacher sessions on Monday evening. As ever there was a super turn out and strong support for our school. These evenings are a great opportunity for our families to meet their children’s new class teachers before parents evenings and hear about the priorities for the year ahead as well as practicalities for the class week.

Our PTA are planning to support the school to develop our school grounds this session. One of the first priorities will be to take the children who are Pupil Voice Reps to visit schools who have already developed their grounds. These fact finding missions will be great opportunities for the children to get an idea of what is possible in the grounds and to take advice and learn from schools which are further along their development of the outdoor environment. The Reps will then be expected to come back and report their findings to the classes and find ways to take our own developments forwards.

Our extra-curricular clubs continued to grow and this week the Netball Club for P4 and P5 girls commenced – many thanks to Linda Gray and two senior PHS pupils who will run the club. Also starting this week was the Reading for Enjoyment club for interested P4 pupils (run by Tamsyn Weston) and a recorder club for P5 pupils. These clubs widen the range of opportunities available to the children and complement existing clubs – Badminton, P6/7 Netball, Football, Young Engineers, Chess, Running Club, Junior and Senior Choirs.

At Assembly today the very well organised JRSOs presented the prizes for their first competition – lots of children throughout the school were rewarded for their efforts and the winning designs will feature on the JRSO’s display in school. We also found out the winners in the Name the Fire Engine competition for each class and the overall winner who was Sophie Downie who came up with the name “Blaze” for the engine. The name has been inscribed on a wooden plaque which will hang above the fire station in the village! Well done Sophie.

Have a super weekend.
