It’s been a few weeks since the last blog. Apologies if you’re a regular reader. Immediately after the Easter holidays we welcomed back our visitors from Education Scotland. This was a super opportunity to showcase our learning culture, progress with the school improvement plan, partnerships with parents and newly enhanced facilities such as the library and calm room. We look forward to the letter from Education Scotland detailing the findings of their visit.

It’s been a sporting couple of weekends with pupils representing West Linton at the Scottish Cross Country Championships in Kirkcaldy, the Scottish Badminton Championships in Perth and the 3 Bridges running event in Peebles. At all three of these events parents, coaches and members of the public commented on our pupils sporting attitude and the learning powers of determination, resilience and have a go. Well done to all pupils who represented our school so well and whose names are in our school newsletters.

We continue to celebrate our children’s wider achievements at our Monday Citizenship Gatherings and Friday assemblies – I am always amazed by the wide variety! For example this week we heard about Isobel’s bagging of Scotland’s hardest Munro – the Inaccessible Pinnacle. Isobel is a P5 pupil! An incredible feat.

I’ve been teaching the 6s from the P6/7 class this week whilst Miss Galloway and all the sevens are at camp along with Mrs Butler, Mr Connor and Mr Elliott. It’s been a quiet week without so many of our pupils but both the campers and those left behind have enjoyed some fabulous weather and great opportunities for outdoor learning.

Our ELCC pupils went on a learning walk during the week and found P1s rehearsing for an assembly, P3s creating powerpoints, P4s making their own toothpaste and an Amazon rainforest in P4/5! Just some of the variety happening every day at West Linton!  What a fabulous school to be a part of.

Have a lovely weekend and please try to recruit some clubs, organisations and local businesses for our Community Open Day on Thursday 9th June!
