The last week of term! At our Citizenship Gathering on Monday we found out the winners of the Earth Hour art competition organised by the Eco Committee in conjunction with Carlops Village and the winners of the poetry entries for the Railway Exhibition.
Kate, Samantha and Natasha Banner’s dad came in to talk about tennis opportunities for our P5-7 pupils and we practised a song for our Spring assembly.
On Tuesday there was great excitement as both the matinee and evening performances loomed for the P6 and P7 Panto “Cinderella and Rockafella”. We were all treated to a superb show with excellent singing, dancing and comedy acting. Lots of laughs for the audience and a real feel good factor as we left the hall. It’s important that we recognise that every child has different talents and that over the school session there is a range of opportunities for our pupils to experience, attain and achieve. Performances like these give pupils the opportunity to shine in music and the arts and shine they most certainly did!
Our Science focus continued throughout the school – and the classrooms were alive with learning which developed the science skills of discussing & questioning, planning, fair testing, observing & measuring, recording, interpreting evidence and evaluating.
On Thursday our P4 year group led the Spring Assembly in school. The children were dressed in lovely bright colours and spoke, danced and sang with such enthusiasm throughout the assembly. It was a really lovely way for the school to enjoy their final gathering of term.
Today the P4-7 pupils were treated to a Samba Drumming workshop and the P1-3s to Beach Volleyball – they used balloons for their introduction to this game. Everyone had brilliant fun and enjoyed this different learning experience for their last day of term.
Finally one year ago today I left my last school ready to take up post at West Linton after the holidays. The year has flown past and I have felt privileged to work with such a committed and professional staff team, get to know the enthusiastic, happy pupils here and their families and to share in the continuing progress of the school and our community.
I hope the children have a super Easter break and look forward to welcoming them back to school for an action packed Summer term of learning.
